Job Description

Lead Technical ArchitectRemote working / home based anywhere in United KingdomWe are seeking an experienced Lead Technical Architect (Solution/Software) to join an award winning team at a very exciting time as the organisation continue on a major digital transformation programme. The existing software systems form part of the criticalnational infrastructure and you will join the group at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide customers with cutting-edge digital services.The RoleAs a Lead Technical Architect, you will be part of the existing software systems safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion, enabling over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured. Lead Technical Architects work alongside the Head of their domain to lead the practice area and drive forward the organisations technical architecture, continuously balancing the need to support delivery whilst embedding their technical strategy.As a Lead Technical Architect (Solution/Software) you will be:* Developing solutions for multiple projects and working with them to deliver these* Evaluating the impact of change and the proposed solutions on their current technical estate* Developing strategies and roadmaps for change* Supporting the Technical Design Authority in guiding projects* Ensuring alignment of solutions to our intentional architecture, tech strategy and business strategy* Mentoring and guiding less experienced architects* Ensuring solution compliance with security, legal and other legislative requirements* Building relationships with potential vendors* Commercial influence over supplier selection and relationships* Keeping up to date with tech through conferences and forums and looking forward to the solutions of the future* Direct management of in-house technical peopleAbout youAs a Lead Technical Architect (Solution and Software) or Senior Architect looking to take the next step up you will offer a depth of experience in Solution and Software architecture and an understanding of the other domains - Business, Data and InfrastructureArchitecture.Technical Experience & Skills:Experience of designing transactional web applications, using platforms and languages appropriate to a modern technology landscape:

  • Embedding APIs as part of a micro-service based architecture
  • Java (Spark & spring-boot) & Python
  • Container management technologies (Kubernetes/OpenShift)
  • Cloud based platform services (AWS EC2/RDS/Lambda),
  • Data platforms (PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Enterprise analytics)
  • API based integration with third party Software as a Service
  • Experience of public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and delivery of secure, robust, flexible solutions
It is desirable to have experience of the following:
  • Architecture Courses or certification aligned to your domain of expertise
  • Agile/SCRUM Master Certification
  • Public Sector / Government Digital Services / GDS
  • They dont follow a rigid approach to architecture, but certification or experience with TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, DODAF, COBIT, ITIL is a plus.
  • Modelling techniques such as UML, SYSML, BPMN might also be helpful
  • Developing solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to interpret business strategy and develop into technical solutions
  • Experience of designing for large projects (£1m +) and seeing those designs through deliver
  • Leading and influencing diverse groups to get to agreement on a technical solution which is then built
  • Ability to assess the impact of technical change on people, process, technology and information
  • Understanding of the commercial impacts of technology implementation and adoption
  • Developing technical strategies and roadmaps
  • Top down thinking and structured, logical decomposition of problems using appropriate modelling techniques and languages
  • Commercial skills in developing contracts and managing supplier
  • Collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Leading, managing and mentoring technical people
  • Selling technical ideas and concepts in a simple way to diverse stakeholder groups and influencing at all levels including senior leaders
  • Being comfortable with change and ability to multi-task and prioritise projects, being able to respond quickly to changing circumstances
