Job Description

**SEN Teaching Assistant wanted for ASAP start in a lovely school in Penarth!**The role:To work as a SEN Teaching Assistant within a KS1 classroom in a Primary school in Penarth. Teaching Assistants collaborate seamlessly with the class teacher to assist both staff and students, ensuring the smooth execution of day-to-day classroom activitiesand cultivating a positive learning environment.Top of FormYour working hours will be:8:30am to 3:30pmWhat skills do you need to become a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Creativity - the ability to develop creative and engaging approaches to facilitate learning
  • Organisation - to effectively manage time, resources and materials to support both individual and group learning activities.
  • Resilience - the ability to bounce back from challenges and setbacks - as a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you may be presented with unique difficulties for students with diverse needs.
  • The ability to implement positive reinforcement - to encourage desired behaviours and achievements.
  • Problem solving - Being able to assess situations and develop effective solutions to address individual challenges of students.
  • A good understanding of educational legislation and policy - particularly those concerning special educational needs to ensure compliance and advocacy of students.
  • IT Proficiency - the familiarity with assistive technologies and other tools that aid students with additional needs with their learning.
  • Communication - clear and effective communication with students, staff and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
What attributes are needed to become a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
  • Empathy - the ability to understand and connect with students who may be facing various challenges
  • Patience - A calm and patient demeanour is crucial when working with students who may require additional time and support
  • Adaptability - the ability to flexibly adapt teaching methods and approaches based on individual needs.
What will you need
  • To hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS
  • Registration with the EWC
  • Previous experience with SEN/ALN
  • Local to or able to commute to Penarth
