Job Description

Behaviour Support MentorA special needs school in Penarth is looking for a Behaviour Support Mentor to join the school and work closely with pupils managing behaviour and supporting throughout lessons. The Behaviour Mentor will work with pupils with additional needs including supportinglearners with Autism, Downs Syndrome and Challenging Behaviour.Full Time: 8.30am to 3.30pmHourly Rate: £10.77The school is a modern state-of-the-art SEN school based in Penarth that caters to learners with additional learning needs from across the Vale of Glamorgan. The ideal Behaviour Support Mentor will be enthusiastic and have a passion for supporting peoplewith additional needs. The school are also looking for a Behaviour Support Mentor that is flexible and confident working with learners across the school supporting with various age ranges and needs.What You Will be Doing

  • Arriving at the school greeting learners and supporting with setting up the classroom.
  • Supporting students with personal care and feeding.
  • Working 1:1 with students and in small groups offering support throughout activities, tasks and games.
  • Provide support for the teacher to monitor progression.
  • Lead small activities and support with lesson and activity planning.
  • General classroom tidying and ensuring the classroom is a safe learning environment.
  • Managing behaviour and reducing challenging behaviour.
