Job Description

Fantastic opportunity to join a successful and expanding high street/online retailer with sites in the UK and a European presence. You will be responsible for developing and building their knitwear and outerwear range that meets the needs and desires of their customers and in line with brand identity and company ethos. Working in partnership with the buying, merchandising and product support teams to lead the sourcing, purchase and planning of a full and balanced range of knitwear and outerwear product that maximises sales and margin performance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate and develop brand identity that maximises the potential of the product
  • Develop a range of products that provides a solution for our specialist customer areas, is appropriate to the market and is in line with current trends
  • Develop a range of product that adapts to maximise trading potential in the marketplaces in which it is planned to trade in, finding new marketplaces when relevant
  • Develop a range of product that complement and enhance the fashion garment product offer
  • Provide direction and support for buying team members ensuring targets are identified and met, giving development and mentoring where required
  • Provide a comprehensive supply base for the product that has the capability and capacity to consistently deliver against current and future growth requirements
  • Conduct effective negotiations with suppliers that provides a commercial proposition whilst maintains production standards and product integrity
  • Conduct continuous market appraisal to both benchmark against and to outperform the competition
  • Continuous evolution of offers to ensure it continues to meet customer expectations for newness and variety
  • Working with CEO and Trading Director to define, implement and review the intake and margin strategy
  • Work with product support team to ensure standards of fit and quality are maintained
  • Regularly visit stores to gather feedback and view product
  • Define & deliver against the critical path for products, liaising with product support and logistics teams to ensure smooth flow of intake & warehouse volumes can be met
  • Ensure that suppliers conform to our code of ethics and urgently address any potential issues
    • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Must have demonstrable successful experience of knitwear and outerwear buying within ladies fashion
  • Expert knowledge of sourcing and key contacts
  • Results driven with sound commercial acumen
  • Strategic thinker with a hands on, action oriented approach
  • Keen negotiator
  • Passion for the brand with a strong understanding of the demands of our customer
  • Highly motivated and a desire to be the best with proven ability to work well as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and at a fast pace with loyalty and commitment to the business.
