Job Description

SBT are pleased to announce an opportunity has arisen for a full time HIAB driver based at our Manchester depot. The role is to provide deliveries & collections, not only to our site engineers utilising our fleet of vehicles which include our 7.5t HIAB equipped vehicle, flatbed and tail lift vehicles, but also to and from our suppliers and customers.Role Overview

  • Reporting to the workshop manager and Transport manager for weekly duties, which include :-
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles in the workshop and at customers and suppliers sites
  • Operation of a vehicle mounted HIAB, complete with wire winch attachment
  • Assisting SBT engineers on site with installing equipment / removing equipment
  • Monitoring and co-ordinating & arranging all maintenance activities for entire fleet (10+ vehicles)
  • Assisting workshop based engineers with mechanical equipment repairs / overhaul as required.
  • The successful applicant will be expected to drive to sites across the region from our Manchester base, ranging from Liverpool to Hull, Harrogate to Gloucester. The equipment being carried / loaded offloaded at these sites ranges dramatically, please see our website for typical works. In addition to driving, responsibility for monitoring and managing the fleet as far as maintenance activities are concerned is crucial to the smooth running of our operation. This includes, MOT’s, servicing, TAX, tyres, etc.Requirements
  • licence to drive 7.5 tonne vehicle
  • Valid CPC / Digi Tacho
  • Over 25 yrs old due to insurance restrictions
  • HIAB operators certificate
  • Mechanical background
  • Knowledge of lifting techniques and use of lifting equipment
  • Knowledge of lift plans and working on sites in line with RAMS
  • The PersonThe Ideal candidate should have a experience of driving / operating HIAB equipped vehicles, lifting and rigging trained, a basic mechanical knowledge, and experience of co-ordinating maintenance activities of a fleet of vehicles. Ideally suited to a self-motivated, keen to get things done type person, with strong communication skills and computer literate. This role will involve a teamwork approach and experience of site works in a similar role will be a distinct advantage.
