Job Description

Accounts Assistant | Nr Newport |Permanent | £24,000 - £27,000 per annum (dependent on experience)The CompanySeymour John are delighted to be working in partnership with a reputable, growing, well-known local business who have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join their friendly finance department. As a leading supplier to theretail industry, our client is looking for someone who enjoys working in a relaxed yet hardworking environment in which there is an incredibly strong team ethic where no job is too small.The Opportunity

  • Accurately log multi-currency purchase ledger invoices onto the accounting system, respond to supplier purchase ledger queries and complete filing as appropriate.
  • Ensure invoices and/or Purchase Orders are approved in accordance with company policy.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and manage any discrepancies.
  • Process expense claims and credit card statements.
  • Produce payment run for due and approved invoices.
  • Provide effective credit control, including reviewing sales ledger accounts, contacting customers regarding overdue payments and raising debit notes where appropriate.
  • Provide reception cover as required including meeting and greeting visitors and answering calls via the switchboard.
  • Produce and maintain spreadsheets and records as required.
  • Set up payments on the on-line banking system for authorisation by a manager.
  • Accounting support including reconciliations and postings.
  • Other general accounting and administration duties which may be required from time to time.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements within the company.
Personal Profile
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong numeracy skills and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
