Job Description

Your new roleHead of Strategy ImplementationWhat youll be leading on

  1. Facilitating the contribution of internal and external stakeholders and partners, including statutory organisations and road user groups, so that their areas of expertise are understood and evaluated in the context of the future strategic direction forthe company.
  2. Working with Strategy and Planning to develop Smart Motorways Management Strategy to ensure that we capitalise on future opportunities and ensure that the Strategy remains relevant.
  3. Through ongoing stakeholder engagement and scanning threats and opportunities, provide advice to the Executive Committee and Board on the positioning of the company considering emerging issues and risks - to ensure that people, processes and systems supportdelivery of the Smart Motorways Management Strategy.
  4. Coordinating the development and delivery of a Divisional implementation plan to embed the new Strategy across the organisation.
  5. Oversee continuous business improvement in delivering proactive interventions to ensure we achieve improvements in current and future performance against company objectives.
  6. Developing and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with senior stakeholders across Highways England and externally, to ensure a strong understanding of business needs, to champion the Divisions work, to ensure the adoption of policies,and operating procedures, to ensure the sharing of best practices, to provide advice and guidance, and to resolve complex issues.
To be successful
  • Understanding of corporate strategy best practice and organisational theory
  • Evidence of knowledge of strategic planning theory and techniques
  • Evidence of having built and maintained relationships with a range of senior colleagues internally and senior external stakeholders.
  • Evidence of previous strategy implementation experience.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to communicate at the highest level within the organisations.
  • Specialist business qualification (e.g. MSc, MBA, MPA or similar) would be beneficial but not essential, and relevant professional membership(s) would also be beneficial but not essential.
