A Local Authority based in Leicestershire is looking for Traffic Management Operatives to join their team. These are full time, temporary ongoing agency roles and the successful candidates must have extensive experience in Traffic/Highways/Signage, ideally Highways/Civil qualifications and ideally experience in a similar local authority setting.The main purpose of the role is to provide an excellent delivery and collection service for temporary traffic management signage for the Highway Delivery workforce. Your work will also support the provision of highway maintenance, construction, forestry and street lighting activities where stop/go boards are required to direct the flow of traffic.The main additional responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;To undertake various duties linked to temporary traffic management signage, delivery, collection, and practical traffic management to gain experience in technical practices; safe working procedures and use of equipment and power tools. The list below is indicative of the types of work, but is not exhaustive:Erection and removal of appropriate signsAssisting with the scheduling of the resources required to effect distribution to, and collection from, given routesRemain flexible at all times during the works, specifically if disruption is caused to the schedule through early or delayed finish timesReading plans and drawings associated with any/all Traffic Management Carry out daily routine checks and maintenance to appropriate vehicle and plant, complying with relevant legislation (e.g drivers hours regulations, European Drivers Regulations, safe loads and weights) to ensure safe and continued use.To work in close collaboration with the Sign Shop and Traffic Management Technicians, assisting where required in the workshop, and providing cover at peak or emergency times as required.To take part, on request, in a Standby rota to assist in emergency situations in order to provide out of hours cover, receiving instruction to attend sites and making the area safe prior to permanent solutions being put in placeThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;NVQ 2 in Highways Maintenance or similarSkilled Road-worker Trades Test Assessment IdeallyNew Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Qualification (Operative) IdeallyWorking in a highways or civil engineering environmentUse of information technology (eg personal computer, PDS, mobile phones etc) in a work-related contextActing as banksman/ signaller for other driversThe client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering a rate of £13 p/hour Umbrella Ltd.
