Job Description

Two teachers required as this SEMH/SEN school1. Lead in English2. Lead in MathsLocation: Midge Hall, near Leyland, LancashireSalary: M1 - UPS2 plus Expert payment of £1,500 per annum in addition to current salaryHours: 40 hours per week - Term Time Only 5 days a weekThis SEMH Group of over 26 schools across England is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.This school is an independent specialist day school, offering personalised academic and therapeutic support to young people aged 9-16 who face various challenges associated with social, emotional and mental health needs, including those who face communicationand behavioural challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions.Many of the young people have had a poor experience of formal educational settings in the past, and may face significant barriers to learning.But with the support of skilled and experienced teaching and therapeutic staff, they are able to overcome these barriers and to develop the skills they need to thrive in their lives beyond school.Teachers focus on providing a creative and stimulating learning environment while building genuine trust between students .This approach inspires high levels of engagement, facilitating achievement and progress for every student - whatever their background.Key duties in addition to current role:Lead, organise, and coordinate your subject within the whole school.Manage and lead relevant approaches and subject information including assessment of progressDevelop your subject as a specialist and successful dimension of the academic curriculum offer; reflected by improved progress and outcomes for all pupils.Provide relevant progress and teaching/learning quality information to SLT as requiredQualifications:

  • PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD and ASD
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate
  • Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs.
  • Experience of working in a therapeutic environment
