Job Description

Start Date: January 2021 Pay: MPS 1 - UPS3 + £4359 SEN Who we are: The National Autistic Society is the UKs leadingcharity for autistic people. We change attitudes by improving publicunderstanding of autism and the difficulties many autistic people face. We alsowork closely with businesses, local authorities and government to help themprovide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services and improve laws.We have come a long way but it is not good enough.There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolationand build a brighter future for people on the spectrum. With your help, we canmake it happen. Who we are looking for: A qualified KS2 Teacher who would love a challengeAre you looking for a post that will be exciting, professionally demanding,stimulating and rewarding in (usually) equal measures Do you have a sense of humour Are you naturallyresilient and a team player who can work collaboratively in a multiprofessional team And, most importantly are you a highly skilled creativeteacher who can ensure every pupil makes good progress from individual startingpoints. If you have genuine passion and enthusiasm formaking a difference and can deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum wewant to hear from you. You will:

  • Embrace the changing landscape in specialisteducation and oversee the development and operational management of the schoolwith the support of the UKs leading charity for people with autism.
  • Create a distinctive culture and philosophy sothat from the moment a person enters the building they will know this is aschool where pupils are respected, achieve beyond what is expected, areempowered to make positive choices about their own lives and have rich andvaried experiences.
  • To be considered for this role, you will need to beable to demonstrate strong leadership qualities (including those of innovationand vision), as well as demonstrating specialist ASD knowledge (throughexperience and practice). Hours of work: 200 days inclusive of 10 non pupil training days.Normal hours may be varied to meet the changing needs of the school. There maybe occasions when additional hours are necessary to meet specific or specialrequirements.
