Job Description

IT Support TechnicianDerbyshire34-38k (10% pension, 4 x death in service)Job OutlineA vacancy has arisen for an experienced IT professional to fill the role of I.T. Technician, working alongside the other technicians within the UK with responsibility for maintaining the integrity of all computer systems, associated software and supportinginfrastructure across all UK sites. With a user base of approximately 800 spread across 7 sites the successful applicant will need to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business and prioritise workload in line with thebusiness needs. The position also requires participation in an out of hours on call rota providing business critical cover both evenings and weekends (1 week in 4).Key Tasks

  • Support day to day operations of the businesss I.T. Systems
  • Provide 2nd level support for all user issues
  • Create standardised documentation for 1st line support technicians on Global Service Desk
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis to identify root cause and prevent problem re-occurrence
  • To install hardware, software and cabling required for users in the operation of their systems also re-site or re-issue IT equipment as required
  • To repair, or arrange for repair by a third party where appropriate, computer hardware that is deemed to be faulty.
  • Plan and perform system maintenance and upgrades without disruption to end user services
  • Implement system changes according to change management procedures, maintaining logs of activities
  • Provide user support in the form of workshops and presentations to improve user functionality
  • Follow and maintain processes and procedures in line with company standards
Skills/Experience
  • Motivated team player with good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage and prioritise workloads in high pressure situations and constantly changing business environment
  • Previous experience (3-4 years) in a similar Industrial or manufacturing/customer facing environment within the I.T. industry desirable
  • Further education qualification in an IT related subject
  • Vendor certifications (MCSA,VCP,CCNA etc.) desirable
  • An analytical approach to problem solving with tenacity and determination to seek solutions to technical issues.
  • Able to confidently interact and communicate with computer users from all levels of the business and I.T literacy
  • Specific knowledge of Windows 10 & 11, Windows Server 2012 & 2016/19, MS Office 2016/365, Teams Telephony and a good working knowledge of networks and PC/Server configuration. Printers (HP/Toshiba/Zebra), Hand scanners (Zebra) and smartphones (Android)
  • VMWare vSphere 6/7, Veeam 11, Avaya, Cisco or SQL Server experience would also be an advantage.
  • Car Driver and Owner and prepared to travel to different midlands sites when required.
  • Prepared to provide out of hours support to computer users on a rota basis (1 week in 4).
  • Comfortable in delivering training to small groups.
