Job Description

Network Infrastructure EngineerApplause IT are seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer to join a secure IT solutions provider in Marston Green, Birmingham and take responsibility for the troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software and issues. You will be helping to identify andreplace faulty network hardware, interacting with users, and designing and testing network implementations. The ideal Network Infrastructure Engineer will possess excellent problem-solving skills and be a strong communicator.Their services are provided under the guise of five core values - trust, respect, integrity, loyalty, and foresight, such values structure the ways that they work and deliver their solutions so it is integral that the successful network infrastructure engineerpossesses similar values and attributes, while remaining knowledgeable of network infrastructure and network hardware, as it is essential that you can implement, design, administer and troubleshoot network devices, such as switches, routers and firewalls.Network Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
  • Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
  • Designing, configuring, and testing networking design implementation
Network Infrastructure Engineer Requirements:
  • LAN and WAN experience.
  • Deep understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Adaptable to allow for quick learning of new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualise solutions.
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organisation.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytic and problem-solving skills.
Essential Skills:
  • Cisco ASA / Firepower
  • Cisco switches and routers
  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP / other Cisco quals
  • Experience with managing and upkeeping firewalls
Desirable Skills:
  • SAN and backup technologies
  • Other firewall manufacturers
  • Microsoft SQL 2008 & 2012
  • Microsoft Windows 2012, 2016, 2019 server etc
  • Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare virtualisation - clusters/ failovers
  • Project management - managing various projects time to time
  • LLD & HLD Documentation - Writing technical and non-technical documents
