Job Description

Job Title: Advanced Speech & Language TherapistGrade: Band 7Trust: Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS TrustLocation: Brooklands, B37 7HLWard/Dept: Forensic Assessment Consultation Training & Treatment (FACTT) ServiceHours: 30/week, Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 16.00Pay rate: £24.38Would you like to be part of a team whose core purpose is to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of people and communities who need our services. Are you highly motivated and committed with excellent attention to detail and strong communicationIf so, Coventry & Warwickshire are looking to recruit an innovative, enthusiastic, and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join their Forensic Assessment Consultation, Training and Treatment team (FACTT) which covers the area of Coventry and Warwickshire.This is an exciting new post; offering the right candidate the opportunity to take a lead role in Speech and Language Therapy provision within the FACTT team. The successful applicant will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, which will includepsychology, nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychiatry.FACTT is a community forensic support service which was originally designed for adults with a learning disability (LD) to support timely discharge from hospital and prevent unnecessary admission to hospital or prison. In an exciting development, the FACTTteam is currently being expanded to include autistic individuals who have forensic needs across. In accordance with the national specification for community forensic LD and autism services, the community forensic service provides:

  • Forensic in-reach support to inpatient services to support safe and timely discharges
  • Assessment and management of forensic risk in the community to ensure public safety and safety of the individual
  • Consultancy and support
  • Training and advice to other agencies
  • Treatment: Delivery of offence specific therapeutic interventions
Strong communication skills are an essential for this role, the post holder must be able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other to maximise the assessment and intervention process. This will includeuse of a range of communication skills including motivation, persuasion, tact and explanation and alternative systems including sign language, gestures, use of objects, picture and audio-visual aids to gain co-operation.The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Have experience working in specialist inpatient or community learning disability and/or Autism services
  • Be competent in working with clients with complex needs
  • Be used to managing their own caseload effectively and supervising qualified or unqualified staff as well as delivering and receiving clinical supervision
  • Have strong analytical skills to interpret complex and/or conflicting clinical information
  • Have had previous involvement in service evaluation and audit
Essential Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Further training and experience in specialist area to Masters level or equivalent
  • Significant post graduate training in relevant to the role
  • Broad range of experience in working in learning disability and/or Autism services.
  • HCPC registration
  • Previous NHS experience
