Job Description

Action for ChildrenSalary:Up to£29,000 per annum, plus £700 On Call and £50 per Sleep-In Allowances.Contract/Hours:Permanent, Full Time 37 hours a week, Shift times are 7am to 3pm, 2pm to 10pm and alternate Weekends. These are on a rota system. We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to theirlives.About the Role:The Vines is a short break residential service for children and young people aged between 11 and 19 with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. We strive and work towards providing top tiered personcentred care. We also hold various activitieson a day to day basis to encourage social experiences and promote equality and diversity throughout the service. In addition to using our own facilities and grounds we support children and young people to access activities within local community settings.As a Team Leader Residential, youll be:-Managing and leading a team of residential professionals and other staff as directed in the delivery of a 24 hour rota (including management of shifts).-Building and maintaining positive relationships by providing emotional/social support to young people, who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties-Taking the lead with case/care planning management for children or young people.-You will be carrying out regular reviews of young peoples paperwork and package of support, in conjunction with the children, young people, their families and professionals from their wider support network.-Supervising, guiding, directing and training the staff team and volunteers where required and provide induction and mentoring for newly appointed staff.-Attending professional meetings including reviews, safeguarding conferences / court work, EHC planning meetings etc. -Deputising in the managers absence, liaising with stakeholders and a range of other professionals and by taking the lead in specific areas of the service such as compliance, health and safety and service monitoring.What youll Bring:Our job description for the Team Leader Residential outlines the requirements of the role but the must-haves are:-A minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent such as level 3 Health and Social Care Children and Young Peoples pathway.-Excellent interpersonal skills.-Previous experience in a supervisory / management role.-Experience in managing and prioritising work tasks.-A commitment to going that extra mile.-Experience of working with children with challenging behavioural/emotional and complex needs.-Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.-A driving license is desirable as we work closely as a cluster of services across Aylesbury and High Wycombe and travel may be required for this purpose and for attending training and meetings.-A friendly, child centred and can do attitudeWorking here is so much more than a job.
