Job Description

Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client to recruit aSafety Data Sheet SpecialistOur client is a large chemical manufacturer based in Bradford, they are looking for someone to join their team, reporting directly to the European SDS Systems Manager.This is an excellent opportunity for a Safety data sheet (SDS)/Hazard Communications professional to work with a global Agrochemical company. This position will primarily focus on the European market and will be dealing with authoring REACH compliant SDS’sand managing suppliers SDS’s. The role will be based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.The key duties will be:

  • Team member responsible for SDS generation, reviewing supplier SDS’s and ensuring the SDS database are up to date.
  • Utilise the appropriate software packages to author SDS’s
  • Carryout Poison Centre Notifications (generation and submission of dossiers).
  • Advise Regulatory/HSE/Operations of any changes to SDS’s or new regulations and their possible impact including on Hazardous Substance Planning Consent and COSHH assessments.
  • Support customer services and the wider business as needed.
  • Manage external customer requests for any SDS or regulatory information.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of regulation and legislation regarding SDS’s.
  • Provide an effective alert service for any changes in product classification.
  • Represent the company on any projects/initiatives as required.
  • Liaise with suppliers, other sites and regulatory experts as necessary to resolve any questions/issues relating to SDS’s.
  • Advise on the interpretation of REACH format SDS and PROC/ERC codes relating to use within manufacturing operations.
  • Examine and improve where appropriate processes relating to SDS generation and use.
The key requirements for a suitable candidate are:
  • Graduate scientist ideally in Chemistry.
  • Experience of using SDS authoring software essential - (knowledge of Exess would be a bonus).
  • Working knowledge of Labelling requirements.
  • Knowledge of hazard classification of materials for EU against CLP
  • Working knowledge of REACH.
  • Knowledge of poison centre regulation (EU Regulation 2017/542).
  • An understanding of EU Regulatory Framework 1107/2009 would be a bonus
  • Ability to manage workload and to communicate effectively across various disciplines.
  • Awareness of IATA/ADR/IMDG.
  • Must be innovative and creative to find solutions to problems.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to design and deploy detailed plans.
  • Self-motivated and works with minimum supervision.
