Job Description

Our credit hire team is the largest and longest-established in the UK, with over 200 colleagues, and acting for more Insurers & Broker clients than any other, but we dont do stuffy and formal; we are down to earth and enjoy the delivery of legal excellence.We are incredibly proud of our reputation and of the work we do with our clients in defeating dishonest motor claims and developing strategies to identify and prevent new and emerging risks. We are looking for like-minded people who want to join us in thisexciting and important work, and who want to develop their career with us.You will predominately be handling your own case load of delegated authority claims which will include but not limited to credit hire cases, suspected credit hire fraud, liability investigations and bodily injury cases whilst assisting and helping to shapeour best in class strategy for our insurer clients.We are looking for all kinds of individuals that have a desire to progress and develop. The role of the File Handler is to carry out complex & technical investigations on claims submitted from specific opponents. These claimswill be up to £25,000 in value.This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an incredible team and gain more experience in investigating credit hire claims with a view to successfully repudiating the claims.Key Accountabilities

  • Education - at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent are essential and a degree is preferable.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Good telephone negotiation skills.
  • Ability to follow work processes and keep to Strategy.
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required.
  • Ability to make decisions and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System preferred.
  • Experience of credit hire and the MOJ portal is essential. The applicant would be expected to have been working in an environment where they have been exposed to credit hire cases for at least 12 months, with some knowledge of dealing with portal deadlines.
Technical knowledge to be developed:
  • Understanding of Pre Proceedings Credit Hire
  • The life cycle of a file
  • Knowledge of common law and litigation principles
  • An understanding of costs and protective offers
  • How to prepare a case for litigation
Personal Development:
  • This role offers an opportunity to develop a range of legal skills under supervision.
  • Further career progression will depend on the File Handler aptitude and desire to move to a different business unit dealing with litigated fast track, fraud or multi track work.

Working Hours35 hours per weekMonday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. This is a hybrid working role so will be working 1 day in the office and 4 days working from home.Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience in a managerial/leadership role within a credit hire environment is essential, with the ability to drive high performing teams, through effective coaching and development
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of learning and development best practice
  • Experience in using MI and data analysis to identify trends, formulate action plans and deliver
