Job Description

MOJ File Handler Job Purpose Our credit hire team is the largest and longest-established in the UK, with over 200 colleagues, and acting for more Insurers & Broker clients than any other, but we don’t do stuffy and formal; we are down to earth and enjoy the delivery of legal excellence.We are incredibly proud of our reputation and of the work we do with our clients in defeating dishonest motor claims and developing strategies to identify and prevent new and emerging risks. You will predominately be handling your own case load of delegated authority claims which will include but not limited to credit hire cases, suspected credit hire fraud, liability investigationsand bodily injury cases whilst assisting and helping to shape our best in class strategy for our insurer clients.We are looking for all kinds of individuals that have a desire to progress and develop. This is a unique opportunity to join a market leading team who deal with credit hire claimsin the MOJ & OIC portal.The purpose of the role is to handle a caseload of portal claims from initial notification and be responsible for assessing liability, personal injury and credit hire with the aim to achieving the best settlement outcome for our client’s. Key AccountabilitiesThe File Handler will handle a case load of portal claims. In addition, they will also handle liability disputed claims on a pre-litigation basis that subsequently drop from the portal.They will perform specific delegated tasks within a supervised environment.• Making initial investigations and liaising with the Insured, Insurer and Third Party solicitors as to liability and making an appropriate assessment.• Undertake discussions and negotiations with Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of costs• If relevant, drafting Court documentation and instructing Counsel as appropriate• Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making• Dealing with correspondence and telephone calls• Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements• Meeting agreed performance targets• Ensuring files are kept within ISO 9001 guidelines• Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested• To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations• Adhere to the Keoghs ValuesWorking Hours 35 hours per week worked 9am and 5pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive with 1 hour for lunch. This role is working in the Bolton office 1 day a week and from home 4 days a week.Experience, Skills and Qualifications• Credit hire experience either defendant (preferable) or claimant• Previous experience of handling own caseload• Good standard of education - 3 GCSE’s grade C or above or equivalent including Maths & English as a minimum.• Good telephone negotiation skills• Have an understanding of portal process• Ability to use own initiative and make decisions• Ability to work as part of a team• Ability to plan and prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressure, whilst complying with deadlines• Excellent listening and verbal communication skills• Excellent client care skills• Ability to analyse data to inform strategy• Proficient in Microsoft officeDesirable• Knowledge / experience of the MOJ process• Knowledge / experience of handling liability disputesCompensation package:Salary discussed & disclosed on application, hybrid working 1 day per week in office remainder remote working, Health Care Cash Plan, Holidays 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (opportunity to buy & sell 3 days) increasing to 26 after 5 years’ service and to27 after 10 years’ service, Death In Service - after 1 year, Employer Pension Contribution, Cycle to Work Scheme, Tech Scheme, Season Ticket Loan*, Gym FlexValues Our culture is focussed on making Keoghs sustainable and successful for our people and clients, with this our five values are at the heart of everything we do;Keoghs values We are connectedWe are DynamicWe are InnovativeWe succeed together
