Job Description

Litigated Credit Hire HandlerWe are looking for Individuals who want to focus on assembling their new future in an established and market leading division that provides you with great opportunity.We are looking for all kinds of individuals that have a real desire to progress and develop and our promise back to you is to support you in reaching them career goals.Many of our leadership team and Technicians started their careers at Keoghs which underlines the development commitment to all our people.You will Predominately be handling your own case load of litigated delegated authority small/fast track claims which will include but not limited to credit hire cases, Suspected credit hire fraud, Liability investigations and Bodily injury whilst assistingand helping to shape our best in class strategy for our insurer clients.Whilst our credit hire team is the largest and longest-established in the UK, with over 200 colleagues, and acting for more Insurers & Broker clients than any other, we dont do stuffy and formal; we are down to earth and enjoy the delivery of legal excellence.We are incredibly proud of our reputation and of the work we do with our clients in defeating dishonest motor claims and developing strategies and to identify and prevent new and emerging risks. We seek like-minded candidates who want to join us in this excitingand important work and to develop and further their careers with us.Job Purpose Pursue settlement of files in line with client instruction / client guidelines to the commercial benefit of Keoghs.Key Accountabilities

  • Create initial case strategy following Client Guidelines and review of information available
  • Undertake discussions and negotiations with Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of costs
  • Undertake Court Telephone Hearings to ensure progress is maximised and all actions have been undertaken to bring the case to settlement
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making
  • Allocate funds to the appropriate client accounts as per agreed procedures to ensure the client and Keoghs receive appropriate payments
  • Dealing with correspondence and telephone calls
  • Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements
  • Updating reports
  • Meeting agreed performance targets
  • Ensuring files are kept within ISO 9001 guidelines
  • Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations
Working Hours Whilst the core working hours are 9.00 am to 5.00 pm the File Handler will be expected to work such hours as are necessary to achieve their targets and it is expected that if the demands of work require it, longer hours will be worked to achieve these expectations.Essential Skills and Attributes:Essential
  • Previous experience in credit hire a minimum either defendant (preferable) or claimant.
  • Experience of small claims and fast track matters
  • Previous experience of handling own caseload
  • Good standard of education - 3 GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent including Maths, English & Science as a minimum.
  • Good telephone negotiation skills
  • Have an understanding of case law and litigation practice & process and CPO
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to follow work processes and keep to Strategy yet flexible enough to adapt to change
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Adhere to the Keoghs Values
Desirable
  • Knowledge / experience of the litigation process
  • Some knowledge of RTA
  • Experience of Indemnity Principles and CCFAs
