Legal AssistantJob Purpose The File Handler Assistant will be assigned to work with a File Handler/File Handlers within a team. The teams deal with the Costs element on cases on behalf of a cross section of insurance clients. Whilst the Assistant will not have ownership of any oftheir own files, they will be responsible for carrying out individual tasks on cases for and in support of the File Handler.The role does not specifically require cost experience as training is provided.Key Accountabilities • Dealing with general or straightforward queries• Telephone chasing activities• Filing out Allocation Questionnaires and witness summons• Arranging telephone conferences• The individual may also be allocated any appropriate administration tasks ensuring the proactive management of files. Delegation of this may be from the team leader or the individual File Handlers.• Other duties• Drafting court documents• Reviewing incoming documents• Carrying out detailed reviews and preparing chronologies• Liaising with parties involved in claims• Instructing Counsel• Research using legal software and practitioners texts• Dealing with routine correspondence• Draft Cost schedulesWorking Hours35 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.Experience, Skills and Qualifications • Education standard of A’ level or equivalent• Experience working in a legal environment• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding of processes and outside the business• An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative• Good Literacy and IT skills• Teamwork - Contributes actively to an environment in which colleagues work cooperatively with each other.• Attention to Detail - Pays appropriate attention to all aspects of a task.ValuesOur culture is focussed on making Keoghs sustainable and successful for our people and clients, with this our five values are at the heart of everything we do;Keoghs valuesWe listen, are down to earth and supportiveWe work together towards a common goalWe’re friendly with a can do attitudeWe care about our clientsWe evolve
