File Handler Assistant (Casualty)Job PurposeWorking in our Casualty EL/PL department, the File Handler Assistant will undertake a variety of mainly file handling tasks to support the team and main File Handlers.The initial tasks will be dependent on experience and there is a large opportunity to make this new role your own and learn directly from one of our partners.The Assistant will be expected to bill 7 hours of chargeable time daily.Key Accountabilities Administration• Dealing with general or straightforward queries• Telephone chasing activities• Filing out Allocation Questionnaires and witness summons• Arranging telephone conference and client meetingsThe individual may also be allocated any appropriate administration tasks ensuring the proactive management of files. Delegation of this may be from the team leader, the team PA or the individual File Handlers.Other duties• Dealing with disclosure.• Reviewing evidence (including medical / personnel records).• Conducting investigations with Insured’s / obtaining witness statements.• Liaising with parties involved in claims including the insured, Claimant Solicitors and witnesses• Instructing Counsel / Experts.• Research using legal software and practitioners texts• Attending conferences and Trials with Counsel and note taking.• Dealing with routine correspondence.• Court appointments.• Reviewing quantum• Drafting Tomlin Orders and Consent Orders• Draft Cost schedules• To ensure compliance with the Solicitors Standards & RegulationsExperience, Skills and Qualifications • Education standard of LPC or ILEX or equivalent work experience.• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding of processes• Self-confident with good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business• An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative• Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required• An ability to maintain attention to detail when dealing with repetitive tasks• Good Literacy and IT skills• Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met• Ability to work effectively within the Keoghs Shared Behaviour framework• Teamwork - Contributes actively to an environment in which colleagues work cooperatively with each other.• Attention to Detail - Pays appropriate attention to all aspects of a task.Working Hours35 hours a week, Monday - Friday 9pm-5pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch, the primary location for this role is our Bolton Office.Compensation package:Hyrbrid working 1 day in the office, 4 days remote,Health Care Cash Plan, Holidays 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (opportunity to buy & sell 3 days) increasing to 26 after 5 years’ service and to 27 after 10 years’ service, Death In Service - after 1 year,Employer Pension Contribution, Cycle to Work Scheme, Tech Scheme, Season Ticket Loan*, Gym FlexOur culture is focussed on making Keoghs sustainable and successful for our people and clients, with this our five values are at the heart of everything we do;Keoghs valuesWe listen, are down to earth and supportiveWe work together towards a common goalWe’re friendly with a can do attitudeWe care about our clientsWe evolve
