Job Description

Would you like to work in a team leading the maintenance of our diverse range of historic buildings on our let estate and holiday cottage portfolio We are looking for individuals who can bring their experience of building maintenance with an interest in historic buildings, coupled with their people skills to lead this work in various locations across the UK.We are looking for an individual who can bring their knowledge of building conservation including historic buildings, coupled with their people skills to lead a team to manage the maintenance and repair of our Let Estate in Carmarthenshire & South East Wales.What it’s like to work here:Here at The National Trust the management of our let estate property, together with the relationships we have with our tenants, underpins our national, circa £50m annual rental income and is absolutely essential to the delivery of our land and property conservation work. We’ve recently redefined our strategy and made some revolutionary changes to significantly improve how we carry out our work in Estate Management, and this role is an important part of that change.The National Trust is the UK’s biggest private landowning charity and you will support us with the maintenance of the properties it owns and protects.What you’ll be doing:As the Let Estate Building Supervisor you may lead or be part of a team to deliver and implement high standards of maintenance and repair of our Let Estate properties. You’ll liaise with our in hand tradespeople, external contractors and tenants so that expectations are managed and regular updates are communicated. You’ll manage a delegated budget and ensure all resources are used in the most efficient way.You’ll work collaboratively with other members of the Let Estate team to ensure the appropriate standards of care, maintenance and compliance are achieved. Working with them to plan the workload for the coming year to ensure work is delivered in a timely manner. You’ll also work with other colleagues across the organisation.You’ll be proactive in your approach to risk management, working with your team and external contractors to ensure risk assessments are undertaken and all work is compliant with the relevant legislation and policies.Who we’re looking forTo be successful in this role you will have:

  • A good understanding of repair and maintenance best practice
  • HND/C in relevant subject area or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance requirements in relation to Let buildings and structures.
  • Ability to instruct, supervise, and direct Contractors and staff to manage implementation of agreed work programmes/projects relating to building structures and services
  • Competent to manage delegated budgets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling strong relationships and networks to be built and maintained externally and internally
