Job Description

Lead and develop the Group Finance Function consisting of seven heads (five in the UK and two in Spain) and to implement financial strategies and approaches that enable the business to meet its financial commitments by delivering or exceeding its financialgoals.Essential that you have experience of working in the fresh produce industry, experience of managing a team, can operate at a senior level and ideally have knowledge of ERP systems.Duties:

  • Lead both the UK and Spain finance teams to ensure that business opportunities and risks are identified and suitable action plans developed to maximise returns and minimise costs e.g., Profit Improvement Plans (PIPs)
  • Ensure the necessary accounting systems, procedures, processes and controls are established and developed
  • Provide, interpret and communicate accurate and timely management information including the Monthly Board Update and the Quarterly Shareholder Update
  • Optimise cash management of the business e.g., cash forecasts, aged debt, supplier advances / payments, fx, etc.
  • Develop detailed operating budgets, forecasts and business cases including potential acquisitions
  • Ensure both the UK and Spain finance teams are appropriately resourced and to train and develop finance team members to meet or exceed the continually evolving needs of the business
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements e.g., External Audit, VAT, PAYE, ONS Business Surveys, etc.
  • Act as finance business partner to Group MD and other Senior Managers. Participate in the general management of the business and contribute to business opportunities outside of functional expertise.
  • Take on the role and responsibilities of Company Secretary for all businesses and ensure they all remain statutorily compliant.
  • Act as the main point of contact with our bank and external accountants with a view to ensuring we maintain strong, effective working relationships with both and we are receiving value for money
Essentials:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • ERP systems experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office user
  • At least 5 years’ (post qualification) experience managing finance teams including professional staff
  • Clear communicator, good team player, problem-solver
  • FMCG experience
Desirable:
  • Rubicon (or very similar) ERP systems experience
  • Examples of successfully developing and improving finance systems, processes and management information
  • Proactive
  • Fresh Produce experience
