We have more than 4,000 dedicated colleagues, at 14 locations across the country, all sharing the same obsession for our great food.Job description:Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for the site services area, which encompasses the supply of energy, water and compressed air to our 24/7 food manufacturing factory. Leading and managing the utilities team, you will help to set the site energy strategy, understanding and ensuring compliance to H&S, quality and environmental policies. In addition, you will also be a part of significant projects connected to your function.What youll be doing:

  • Ensure that standards and procedures are in place and updated to govern all engineering activities on site including safe working practices, management of contractors and assessment of competencies of engineering staff
  • Communicate effectively with the operations and engineering teams to ensure daily and weekly priorities are clear and that issues are discussed to prevent downtime, loss and cost, ensuring that any unsolved problems are escalated
  • Positive management of supplier relationships to ensure excellent partnership working
  • Application of best practices from across the business at a site level
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, moral and European directive requirements in respect of Safety, Quality and Environmental
  • Recruit, manage and motivate staff as a first line manager via coaching, regular appraisal mentoring, training and leadership-by-example, with direct responsibility for a named group of staff
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a strategy so that the
  • Engineering function is effective, efficient, to budget, managed, well-motivated, flexible and able to adapt to changing production circumstances
  • Create, implement, and manage Utilities and maintenance expenditure budgets for the area, to achieve area and site targets including supplier optimisation and minimal inventories
  • Management of the asset register and asset disposal
  • To drive a Health and Safety culture on site
  • With the site management team, ensure that the productive capability of the plant is optimised and improved for the needs of the business, this includes the provision and use of utilities (gas, water, electricity, compressed air, effluent treatment and removal) while complying with environmental legislation
  • Deliver a 5% saving in controllable costs year on year vs pro-rata increase/decrease in site volumes
  • Project Management/involvement for projects within the responsible area
    • What we need from you:
  • A time served engineer
  • Anunderstanding of boiler operations would be highly desirable
  • Experience of effluent plant operations would be highly desirable
