You will be a key member of the R&D team that provides an innovative, technical-based service to the Desserts portfolio of products, enabling continued expansion, and improvements of existing products and processes. The Technologist will participate in the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve costs and quality of products and processes and other site initiatives where appropriate.What you will be doing:

  • Lead development projects for both internal and external customers.
  • Develop products from initial brief to launch in compliance with the R&D process, in line with the Stage/Gate process, and company’s policies.
  • Deliver improvement projects as briefed, and proactively come up with ideas for improvements.
  • Source, co-ordinate and maintain adequate supplies of raw materials, ingredients and key equipment as required.
  • Ensure appropriate storage of finished products and accessibility of samples for sensory research, marketing/approval meetings, and sales force.
  • Instigate collaborative relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders to optimise resources and facilitate the implementation of innovative solutions.
  • Provide ingredient information and technical data for specifications, costings, labels as required.
  • Operate Pilot Plant equipment as and when required.
  • Ensure all samples for shelf-life evaluations are stored correctly, available for examination at key stages, and results are documented.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the various sites manufacturing capabilities, systems and processing parameters.
  • Demonstrate the correct safety behaviours, ensuring safe operating practices are followed in all areas of activity.
  • Follow GMP and all necessary food product safety guidelines to ensure high quality trial samples for organoleptic assessment.
  • What we need from you:
  • Minimum - Science A levels / HNC.
  • Preferred - Degree / HND in Food Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience/knowledge of Thermal Processing.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, product research & development.
  • Good inter-personal skills and a proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic cross functional environment.
  • Innovative, creative, with a proactive outlook.
  • Problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Prepared to be flexible in role depending on situation. Leader or team member.
  • Effective communicator at all levels.
  • Able to work at a pace in a fast-moving environment.
