As a Barclays Software Engineer, you will be leading components of software development for the UK Branch Accounting application across the detailed design, build and unit test phases of the lifecycle. You will also maintain a technical understanding ofmultiple components within the UK Branch Accounting application, providing subject matter expert (SME) support for technical queries, live incidents and problems. What will you be doing Providing input to the production of Technical Feasibility Studies (TFS) on behalf of the Solutioning and Architecture team for projects Provide estimates for engineering work in the production of Advice and Guidance (A&G) documents and project Plan and Estimates (P&Es) Solving unique and complex software-related problems, providing full and detailed analysis with recommendations as appropriate Developing an in-depth awareness of new tools, processes and technical developments relevant to component area of expertise You will be responsible for requirements gathering Contributing to the translation of business requirements into firm system requirements, ensuring that they are sufficiently comprehensive Providing input to the production of clear functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. capacity, availability, response times, etc.) What were looking for: Proven experience of Mainframe application Solutioning / Design Solid level of experience of IT software development Extensive proven experience of IBM Mainframe development Financial services experience Skills that will help you in the role: End-to-end software development lifecycle Software development methodologies, e.g. waterfall, agile Awareness of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within Mainframe IT, e.g. Compuware Topaz, Expeditor BSc degree in relevant software engineering discipline, equivalent to UK 2nd class honors Where will you be workingThe Barclays Technology Campus, just outside Manchester, is our transatlantic tech command centre for information security in the UK.
