Job Description

Edgeview Homes is a leading care provider in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. We are a growing modern care business and we need likeminded individuals to join our excellent team.We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, hardworking and with excellent empathy to join our team to provide a service to clients with learning disabilities, enduring mental health and behaviours that challenge, you will provide professional care and support to individuals using a holistic approach.All Support Workers will receive 4 weeks annual leave plus bank holiday, pro-rated for part-time staff.POSITION: FIRST LEVEL NURSE - RMN/RNLD - DAY/NIGHTS ON ROTA BASISACCOUNTABLE TO: THE MANAGERREPORTS TO: THE MANAGERPURPOSE OF THE JOB:•To provide the best possible care and support to our service users in a safe way with empathy;•To supervise support workers showing them leadership by example and assertiveness whilst also being the first point of contact for support queries and any day to day staffing issues;•To assist in the formulation of a support system based on choice and independence for service users and the creation of a homely environment.•Maintain high standards of planned support, supporting the Manager and team in enabling service users to achieve maximum potential and to move on to other accommodation whenever appropriate.•Take charge of the service on a regular basis in the absence of the unit manager.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:•To ensure that the requirements of all mental health legislation are met and that service users rights under these are upheld.•To comply at all times with all relevant legislation, guidelines and best practice.•To ensure that all record keeping relevant to the role, such as but not limited to, medication logs, fire logs, records of support and any reviews are undertaken on time and to a high standard with minimal supervision , these may be in a written or electronic format•To ensure all service users receive excellent person centred support.•To act with minimal active supervision and to be assertive in dealing with any staff issues or incidents involving clients.•To carry out routine procedures to include administration, ordering and disposal of medication•To be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with a wide range of staff and agencies.•To be responsible for the assessment of individual care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of individual programmes of care.•To develop behavioural support plans using Positive Behavioural Support approaches.To carry out all relevant forms of support, take an enabling role, facilitating choice and independence, encouraging individuals to direct they’re own support, wherever possible.•To participate in the induction of new members of staff, familiarising them with their duties and expected level of performance.•To supervise, teach and support all support workers and to act as a good role model, encouraging behavioural improvement.•To report on the progress of support workers and other members of the team and to conduct staff appraisals, staff development programmes and in-service training of a multi-disciplinary nature.•To deploy staff appropriately according to benefit the business and service users, rather than personal staff choices.•To ensure that support workers are aware of all policies and procedures that are formulated for the support and welfare of service users.•To investigate, report on and take action about critical incidents, accidents at work, health and safety and first aid issues with minimal supervision.•To assist and support management in the investigation of disciplinary, grievance and other HR issues under the direction of management.•To provide input and support to the multi-disciplinary team and its individual members and to assist service users to develop practical, domestic and social skills in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.•To work closely with other disciplines in the planning and implementation of therapeutic activity programmes and to support and positively develop the relationship between the service and other service providers.•To implement Quality Assurance initiatives, ensuring service users receive the best possible standard of standard.•To keep up-to-date and apply new knowledge to your job•To undertake any tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Manager or Operations Team who have continuing responsibility for the service.PLEASE NOTE:This job description is not intended to be a complete list of tasks and responsibilities associated with the post and may be modified as the need arises, following discussion with the line manager
