Job Description

Summary Killerton is approaching an exciting time of significant change for the property. Close to a growing and expanding regional city, we are planning an ambitious series of projects around the Destination Estate Vision & Concept to help deliver ourcore purpose of protecting and caring for places, so people and nature can thrive. Nature recovery, protecting wildlife habitats, establishing new trees, reducing our carbon footprint and creating more opportunities to connect; Just some of the things weredoing to respond to the climate emergency and nature crisis. We are looking for an experienced and confident project manager, one who has a real passion for nature and people, and appreciates the threats and opportunities facing us and society. One of 22 national pilot projects that has secured funding from DEFRA throughthe Landscape Recovery Scheme, over the next two years youll help lead and drive the development of long-term plans to secure landscape-scale change at Killerton. What its like to work here Located close to the vibrant city of Exeter, the 18th century house,garden, parkland and wider estate welcomes in excess of 500.000 visitors a year. Its size and scale makes Killerton a truly wonderful place to work. The wider estate extends to 6,500 acres and consists of farmland, woodland, orchard, wood pasture and three tributaries of the River Exe. Weve made huge strides over the last few years including the establishment of over 70,000 trees, 40 hectares of new woodpasture and the restoration of more than 5 km of hedgerow, but we are determined to go much, much farther in our ambitions to improve the state of nature and increase access to the outdoors. For more information about the property please visit https://killerton What youll be doing Reporting to one of the SW Regional Project Managers, you will be responsible for the Killerton Three Rivers Landscape Recovery Scheme over the initial two-year developmentperiod. Working closely with your project team, the project board, property and regional teams, youll coordinate a series of plans. Land management, stakeholder engagement, site access, consents and permissions as well as a blended finance model, all resultingin landscape-scale change across the Killerton Estate. Commissioning and co-ordinating a wide range of technical experts, such as geomorphologists, ecologists, hydrologists, and green finance. Plus our own in-house technical specialists to bring all the advice together. Youll also need to work with our tenantfarmers, local communities, project liaison staff at the Environment Agency and others for advice and support. Youll need to submit timely reports and updates to our own project board and the Environment Agency to ensure the project is developing in accordancewith the grant agreement. Who were looking for Wed love to hear from you if you have:

  • Working towards or has the desire to work towards a Project Management Qualification PMQ (or equivalent). Ideally experience of working on projects in an environmental, conservation or land-based sector
  • Solid project management skills, able to make decisions and drive projects forward working to budgets and timescales.
  • Good understanding of project management life-cycles, processes and practices, including governance requirements.
  • Excellent management and communication skills including the ability to manage and motivate project teams.
  • Ability to handle sponsor, client, stakeholder and supplier relationships effectively.
  • Experience of working with external agencies, contractors and along with experience in making decisions, driving projects forward and working within timescales and budgets.
  • Some experience of funding, procuring, contracting and financial processes.
  • Able to manage budgets and cost control.
