Job Description

Workchain are currently looking to source a Health and Saftey advisor for our prestigious client based in Kentford.The ideal individual will play a vital role in the health & safety team in protecting employees in the workplace and those affected by our work. Expert knowledge and experience will be required to control risks at work and ensure the company is meeting currentsafety standards and legal requirements by communicating effectively across all levels of the company in delivering the health and safety message.Shift Details;

  • 40 Hours per week
  • 21.30 - 07.00 Monday to Thursday.
  • 19.30 - 01.30 Fridays
  • Shift will be changing later in the year to 22.00 - 06.30
Experience required
  • Experience of management systems to ISO 45001 (orOHSAS 18001), 14001 would be advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation withthe ability to put said knowledge into practice in anoperational manner
  • Ideally 5 years-experience within this or similarmanufacturing industry
  • Be able to work autonomously as well as part of a teamusing own initiative as and when required.
  • Have excellent communication and people managementskills across all levels both verbal and written
  • Be able to organise and plan workload of yourself andothers as and when required
Qualifications;
  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum, diploma preferred
  • IOSH or similar
  • IEMA or other suitable environmental qualification desirable
  • ISO 45001, 14001or similar auditing qualification desirable
Duties;
  • Working with a team of people dedicated to health, safety andthe environment.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to healthand safety across all sites and satellite offices in England. Thismay require visiting all premises as and when required.
  • Assist the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager and teamto ensure that the Company remains up to date with alllegislative requirements, updating relevant policies andprocedures where necessary and maintaining companycompliance
  • Carryout, record, communicate and implement workplace riskassessments and produce safe systems of work or assist therewith.
  • Carryout HSE induction training for new team members and sitevisitors and assist with the monitoring of existing members.
  • Assist with the production and delivery of health, safety andenvironmental training course
  • Assist with the production and delivery of a programme ofeffective Tool Box Talks on relevant topics consideringworkplace incidents, observations, changes in work practice andlegislation and training requirements
  • Arrange external training and prepare materials ready for them.
  • Assist with the implementation of training plans.
  • Carryout accident, incident and near miss investigations andanalysis. Establish root causes and effective PCAs andrecommend and monitor measures for continual improvement
  • Carryout site inspections, accurately recording observations,near misses and incidents.
  • Liaise with the Companys occupational health suppliers andprepare appointments for visits
  • Ensure non-employee compliance of site rules, Companyprocedures and safe working practices.
  • Carryout health and safety audits as per our ISO 45001procedures, raising the necessary reports to a suitable level andassist with the implementation of changes where necessary
  • Assist with the preparation and be in attendance for ISO 45001and 14001 external audits as and when required
  • Be proactive in suggesting health and safety initiatives toimprove health, safety and well-being on site with a view toreducing accident and incident rates
  • Be proactive in suggesting environmental initiatives to improveour environmental impact, reducing our carbon footprint,improving our sustainability and reducing incident rates
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and recording of alloperational plant and equipment inspections and monitoringunder current legislation including but not limited to LOLER,PUWER, Working at Height, Confined Space, Gas Safe and Airand Noise surveys.Document Number: HR073 Issue Date: 07/01/2022 Rev: 1.0
  • Assist with the management of the Contractor evaluationprocess, including on site management of contractors in linewith legislative requirements, ISO 45001 and best practice
  • Carryout site inspections to ensure compliance with legislation,management systems and our company procedures and safesystems of work
  • Liaise with the Companys insurance company where necessary.
  • Liaise with the HSE and Local Authorities if and when necessary
  • Any other adhoc duties to enable the effective running of thedepartment
  • Effect communication with all employees to achieve activeengagement in health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team usingown initiative as and when required.
  • Have excellent communication and people management skills.Be able organise and plan workload of yourself and others asand when required
