Job Description

Are you New roads and Streetworks accredited I am looking for a highway operative to join a London borough council on an interim basis. You will be required to work as part of a team assisting in the provision of a safe public realm including highways and open spaces, within the borough for all users. Due to the nature of the role you will be required to have a driving licence, driving a non-large goods vehicle.Responsibilities will include

  • work with hand tools (including powered tools) for the purpose of excavating and clearing, mixing, application, laying, levelling, spreading, compaction of granular bituminous concrete, soil or water bound materials and work with a skilled operative in the laying of pre cast natural stone paving, kerbs, block and modular paving, soil or grass.
  • To carry out road markings and sign installation works e.g. attach signs using stepladders and tools to signposts, lamp columns, etc.
  • Repair, clean, install, or removal street furniture, including, road studs, posts, signs, guardrails, traffic counters, etc.
  • Carrying out a range of maintenance and construction work on natural and artificial surfaces such as mowing, sweeping, edging, raking, digging, pruning, turfing, sowing seeds, watering, painting, litter collection and emptying bins etc.
    • This role is suitable to anyone with previous highway maintenance experience or who is new roads and street works accredited. You will be required to undertake a standard DBS. This role is looking to pay £13.22-£13.94 PAYE per hour. Hours will be 7.5 hours per day 5 days a week.
