Job Description

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Gardener to join the London Borough of Islington.Contract: Temporary, ongoingHours: 35 hours, 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pmYour duties will include:

  • Carry out general cleansing, waste management, grounds maintenance and park keeping duties as directed by supervisor
  • Undertake safely the collection of all types of waste; cleansing of streets or parks and open spaces
  • Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff and clients by adhering to safety and health regulations
  • To support ways of working to improve recycling, waste minimisation and maintenance of parks
    • The successful candidate will have:
  • At least 6 months experience as a gardener, loader, sweeper or grounds maintenance operative
  • The ability to carry out repeated moderate and heavy lifting and sweeping activities
  • The ability to adopt safe working practices, and to have a working knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends on a shift pattern including early and late shift
  • Experience using the following machines - Hedgecutters, pedestrian mowers, back pack blowers, strimmers
