Job Description

  • Plant-based proteins start-up.
  • Contribute to a more sustainable and lower-cost food system.
KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrable expertise in Plant Gene Editing and Metabolic Pathways.
  • Ideally educated to PhD level (or equivalent). plus 2+ years post degree experience in a relevant discipline, e.g. Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry...
  • The ability, experience and confidence to play a key role within a small business, and play a lead role to more junior scientists and technicians.
  • Ideally exposure to commercial lab environments, whether in a start-up or more corporate setting.
OVERVIEW:With significant backing, this Molecular Farming start-up has developed a novel & patented approach to developing molecules and proteins that are identical to those that are animal based... but from plant-based sources.A Senior Scientist is now required to contribute to creating innovations with mass market potential.Playing a senior / lead role to more junior technical staff and working closely with those at C Level in the business, you will need to be an experienced scientist with demonstrable experience in Gene Editing and related areas. Ideally this would comefrom not only a PhD (or equivalent), but also a couple of years or more post-degree experience.For somebody at the right point in their career this could offer a great opportunity for career elevation, with a leadership element and chance to play a genuinely impactful & influential role in a growing start-up of high potential.
