Job Description

Childrens Residential Support WorkerJob Title: Childrens Residential Support WorkerSalary:£24,000 - £26,000 per yearLocation: Derby, UKReports to: Registered Manager & DirectorsPurpose of Job:The Childrens Residential Support Worker will actively promote the rights of young people as individuals and provide them with quality care in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures. They will assist in providing a safe and homely environment,individually and as part of a team, to help young people achieve their potential. This entails working within Equal Opportunities and Quality Assurance frameworks and may include undertaking delegated responsibilities for designated tasks while maintainingconfidentiality of client information.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Physical/Emotional/Social Needs of Young People

  • Assist in developing new techniques and approaches to childcare provision.
  • Encourage the development of individual interests and attitudes.
  • Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each young person.
  • Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Provide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries regarding behaviour.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle for young people.
  • Assist young people in developing and sustaining positive social networks.
  • Organise and participate in group activities and holidays.
  • Assist in meal provision/preparation.
  • Support young people through the process of leaving care.
  • Encourage young people to develop their full educational and vocational attainment.
  • Observe and assess the behaviour of young people.
  • Engage in day-to-day care practices to create an accepting environment conducive to positive personal development.
  • Assist in planning and preparing young people for admission or discharge from residential care.
Team Expectations
  • Ensure all young people have care plans and develop, implement, and review care packages.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure care provision aligns with statutory frameworks and organisational policies.
  • Collaborate with carers, social work staff, specialists, and other professional agencies.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with families and agencies.
  • Attend childcare reviews and other relevant forums.
  • Support less experienced staff as part of their induction process.
  • Participate in supervision and appraisal schemes.
  • Undertake appropriate training for professional development.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Undertake routine administrative tasks and provide written reports.
  • Maintain young peoples files as required.
  • Compile reports including review, progress, and incident reports.
  • Adhere to organisational guidelines and procedures.
  • Receive and handle complaints according to organisational policies.
  • Undertake financial management and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
