Job Role: Cover Supervisor/Teaching AssistantLocation: HydeA school in Hyde requires a cover supervisor and teaching assistant on an on-going basis to start as soon as possible.A Cover Supervisor in a secondary school is a non-teaching role that involves supervising and managing a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. Here are some key responsibilities and duties associated with the role of a Cover Supervisor:Classroom Management:Maintain a positive and controlled classroom environment.Ensure that students are on task and engaged in productive activities.Manage behaviour and address any disruptions according to school policies.Implementing Lesson Plans:Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher.Deliver pre-prepared lessons and materials to the best of your ability.Provide assistance and support to students as needed.Attendance and Registration:Take attendance and report it to the school office.Complete any necessary administrative tasks related to student attendance.Supervision:Supervise students during breaks, lunchtime, and other non-classroom settings.Ensure a safe and secure environment for students.Communication:Communicate with other school staff, including teachers, administrators, and support staff.Report any significant incidents or issues to the appropriate personnel.Adaptability:Be flexible and able to adapt to different subjects and age groups.Manage a variety of classroom settings and teaching styles.Building Positive Relationships:Establish positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive learning environment.Encourage a positive and respectful atmosphere within the classroom.Professional Development:Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.Stay informed about school policies and procedures.Confidentiality:Maintain confidentiality regarding students and their personal information.Emergency Procedures:Be aware of and adhere to emergency procedures, such as fire drills or lockdowns.Its important for a Cover Supervisor to be adaptable, have good communication skills, and be able to manage a classroom effectively.
