Job Description

nmcn work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.Our Telecoms business provides the management and delivery of national and regional network infrastructure to major communications providers (Cityfibre, Openreach and Virgin Media). This includes traditional installations, improvements, repairs, 24-houremergency response as well as FTTP, PIA and Full Turnkey networks to high-speed fibre networks. We apply our expertise at each stage of the project lifecycle to ensure smooth delivery to our customers and clients.We are looking to recruit a QESH Advisor based out of our Head Office/Huthwaite, covering the East Midlands area. The purpose of the role is to oversee the development and direct implementation of all aspects of QESH within the Telecoms structure. The successfulapplicant will ensure that actions are taken to raise all employees awareness of hazards in the workplace and subsequent control measures required to avoid or significantly reduce the risks, including occupational illness or disease. You will develop directprograms to maintain and improve the health, safety, environmental and quality awareness of all employees within the Telecoms division whilst establishing and maintain a robust audit regime.What youll be doing day to day

  • Ensure the organisation complies with current health, safety and environmental legislation approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to service provision and employment matters
  • Schedule and Facilitate BSI Compliance Audits
  • Monitor, evaluate and review internal Health and Safety policies and practices and ensure they are consistent across the division
  • Schedule and Facilitate Internal Audit Schedule
  • Make recommendations and implement change to current policies and procedures as required
  • Manage and monitor a competency-based training matrix for all staff and ensure compliance
  • Liaise with bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and industry bodies and ensure nmcn comply with updates in legislation
  • Drive root cause analysis and communication of lessons learnt in the event of Accidents/Incidents and reporting of RIDDOR incidents
  • Support data collection in the event of insurance claims
  • Advise Operational Team with HR support re: Occupational Health Restrictions
  • Develop incident managing reporting and drive continuous improvement
  • Ownership and Maintenance of the Divisions Subcontractor/Supplier Approved Vendors List, ensuring appropriate due diligence checks are completed prior to approval
  • Manage an effective audit regime (office, depot, site) report on its findings and drive through continuous improvement
  • Management and Monitoring of Divisions A4IM Platform for reporting of accidents/incidents etc.
  • Establish and implement a QESH action plan and drive continuous improvement. Provide monthly / quarterly reports as required and chair review meetings
  • Manager regional advisors and third-party inspectors in respect to their site visits and in particular ensuring the close out of any actions and review of preventative measures
  • Investigate, or where appropriate, to lead and assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence
  • Undertake investigations on all incidents and monitor the close out including recommendations and lessons learnt
  • Manage an effective team to deliver for the contract
  • Management of established QESH Team (5 Advisors)
  • Compile and submit annual ROSPA submission
  • Support Tender team on all aspects of QESH
The experience were looking for in a candidate
  • 10 years experience of managing health and safety systems preferably within the Telecoms / Utilities sector
  • Excellent knowledge of managing Health and Safety requirements for multiple teams in multiple locations
  • Good working knowledge of behavioral safety
  • Detailed knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application
  • Be able to manage an effective divisional QESH team to deliver a high-quality service to the division
  • A positive approach to work
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be IT literate with good presentation skills
  • Have the drive and desire to succeed within a reputable and national construction company
