Job Description

Linux Systems Administrator and DBAHuthwaite NG17 - hybrid working available after probationOur client is an established, friendly, global exporter family run business based in the north area of Nottinghamshire. They are seeking to recruit a DBA and Linux Systems Administrator to work proactively to support and maintain the company’s Linux servers,database installations, scripting environments. Including overnight and live processing, SQL scripts and printing processes within their mainly on-site VMware environment.Whilst currently majority Linux based, the role will develop in line with the company’s technology strategy which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence. This may come to include working with containers, cloud deployments, AzureDevOps administration, Azure AD/O365 administration, system development and the production of forms-based documentation.Key Duties for the Linux Systems Administrator and DBA role:

Set up and maintain Linux servers and containers (CentOS, SuSe and Debian), including installation, configuration, and routine maintenance tasks.
Manage and administer multiple databases, including Postgres, Ingres, and SQL Server
Collaborate with developers to optimize database query performance and implement best practices
Creating and maintaining bash scripts including SQL statements
Creating and maintaining Python scripts
Maintaining CUPS and other printing configurations
Documenting existing systems
EDI data transfers
Forms-based documentation using DocOrigin
Assisting the wider support and development teams with other duties that help support the smooth running of the company

Skills and Experience for the Linux Systems Administrator and DBA role:

Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux systems (CentOS, Suse and Debian)
Database knowledge including SQL and good practices for data integrity
Bash scripting and other common Linux tools (sed, awk, lftp, rsync, etc.)
Python
Git version control
Forms-based software (DocOrigin / Jetform)
VMware vSphere
Veeam
Azure AD/O365
Sans / Switches / UPSs

Other Information:

The core hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm - with flexibility on either side of this.
