Job Description

nmcn work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and our central service support teams are on hand to provide the necessary support and guidance. You don’t have to wear a hard hat to have a positive impact here. Our central service functions range from ICT and Procurement to HR and Communications ensuring the seamless integration across our business.We are looking to recruit aHealth & Safety Advisor to join our central QESH team based at our Head Office in Huthwaite, Mansfield. You will be responsible for promoting good practice around Health, Safety & Wellbeing across nmcn. Beyond the activities detailed below, the role will have scope for innovation, with the opportunity for you to develop as an individual, and lead best practices in the field.What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Reviewing Health & Safety procedures, and assisting with development of existing procedures
  • Undertaking audits and inspections of offices and workshops – completing reports and supporting best practice.
  • Raising the profile of Health, Safety & Wellbeing across the business
  • Making general assessments of how the business is working and behaving in relation to Health & Safety working practices
  • Adopting a proactive and hands on approach to coaching Health and Safety best practices across the business
  • Providing Health and Safety advice to all members of staff across multiple business functions
  • Promoting a culture integrating Health, safety and Wellbeing into every day processes
  • Maintaining and improving the internal IMS management system
  • Assessing contractors Health and Safety policies prior to approval and monitoring compliance to company standards and legislation
  • Accompanying managers and other safety professionals on site tours to promote good practices, whilst advising them of your concerns and ensuring actions raised are closed out.
  • Attending team meetings
  • Interpreting Health and Safety data and identify focus areas for continuous improvement
  • Contributing to the continual development of our Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives and strategy
  • The experience were looking for
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable)
  • Technical knowledge of legislation
  • Extensive experience in a health and safety role
  • Good knowledge of ISO 45001 and other relevant standards
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of an established high performing team
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
  • It is essential that you have a high level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills
