Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.An opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety advisor to join our central QESH team, who will predominantly be based at our Head Office in Huthwaite, Mansfield. You will be responsible for promoting good practice around Health & Safety performance across our Head Office functions. Beyond the activities detailed below, the role will have scope for innovation, with the opportunity to develop as an individual, and lead best practices in the field.What youll be doing day to day

  • Reviewing H&S procedures across our Head Office and wider business functions and assisting with development of existing procedures
  • Undertake audits and inspections of offices and workshops
  • Raising the profile of Health & Safety across the business
  • Making general assessments of how the business is working and behaving in relation to H&S working practices
  • Adopting a proactive and hands on approach to coaching H&S best practices across the business
  • Providing H&S advice to all members of staff across multiple business functions
  • Promoting our culture of integrating HSE considerations into every day processes
  • Maintaining and improving the internal IMS management system
  • Assessing contractors H&S policies prior to approval and monitoring compliance to company standards and H&S legislation
  • Accompanying managers and other safety professionals on site tours to promote good practices, whilst advising them of your concerns and ensuring actions raised are closed out.
  • Attend QESH meetings and partake in QESH conference calls
  • Completing on-line QESH reports for each site visited with records of good practices seen, immediate corrective actions completed and areas requiring attention with the agreed action and close out date; supported by photographs
  • Contributing to the continual development of our QESH strategy
  • The experience were looking for in a candidate
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical knowledge of legislation
  • Extensive experience in a health and safety role
  • Good knowledge of OHSAS 18001 understanding of ISO 45001
