Job Description

Salary - Circa £40,000, salary dependant on skills and experienceLincoln or Huntingdon based and Home Working (2 days in the office)Fully time, 37 hours per weekAs our region flourishes it is our priority to support our economy, customers and communities; driving sustainable growth and building resilience across our services. We recently announced plans to invest £6.5 billion to protect our regions water suppliesover the coming years.Our IS team is currently undergoing a transformation which will enhance the services it delivers and ensure they are best positioned to play a proactive and value orientated role across our business.Our goal is to exceed customer expectations whilst embracing new technology to drive digital transformation; better connecting our customers, people, assets and information.As part of this transformation we are recruiting for a number of new and exciting roles within our IS team.Our working model has changed significantly through the Covid-19 pandemic with our product teams working a hybrid of in office and remote. Our main company bases are Lincoln and Huntingdon and our team is already split across these sites. Like any otherUK company, we are evolving our approach to include vastly more remote working.Its likely we will only hold collaborative face-to-face meetings back at the office, with perhaps with office contact being one or two days per two weeks. This approach allows a lot more flexibility for location within the UK. If you can get to the officeoccasionally then dont let location be a barrier to applying.What will you be doingAs an "agile" User Experience designer, you will be accountable for conceiving, designing and delivering, UX and UI designs within an agile Scrum Team delivering custom software products. You will work closely with Product Owners, User Requirement Specialists,Software Developers and have access to industry leading UX/UI consultants embedded within our agile teams.Our product squads are self-managing on a daily basis, using Scrum processes and kanban boards to manage work and priorities. You will work as part of the team to deliver solutions as a part of our just in time delivery framework.

  • Crafting annotated design prototypes of varying fidelity for web, mobile, and responsive design, using programs such as Sketch and InVision
  • Ability to create both low and high-fidelity designs
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative user research in the form of surveys and interviews
  • Performing various user testing and validation practices
  • Developing and annotating user flows, journeys, and persona
  • Creating user journeys and mapping user flows
  • Working with stakeholders to iterate design and solution
  • Creating original design, iconography and art for digital screens
  • Creating and annotating UI component library style kits and design guidelines, both from scratch and from existing brand conventions
  • Maintaining AW digital services component library over the course of product design
  • Work with the Product owner to test the effectiveness of product Releases using tool such as Hotjar, Google analytics and browser stack, use product management and usability metrics to improve product design for internal and external users
  • Participate in product design processes (design sprint ad refinement)
What does it take to be a UX Designer
  • Degree-level or demonstrable equivalent experience of verifiable UX and UI experience
  • Demonstrable design problem solving capability
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a solid understanding of both UX and UI techniques and processes
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Axure or Invision
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum Product delivery
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Understanding/awareness and appreciation of Software Development and Data Visualisation processes/cycles (agile)
