Job Description

Technical Design EngineerHuntingdon - St. Neots areaSalary Guide: £40,000 - £50,000 paApplicants will need to have their own transport due the companys rural location.Established leader in processing equipment and solutions for the food processing / manufacturing industry requires a Technical Design Engineer to work within the design team on their comprehensive range of equipment that they manufacture.Candidates must have significant experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D Software such as SolidWorks.Duties to include:

  • Perform necessary calculations, control and advise on technical legislation that the equipment should conform to such as PD5500, ASME, Puwer, Machinery Directive, CE/CA marking etc.
  • Specify and source technical bought out items to ensure they conform to our client and their customer requirements.
  • Advise both colleagues and customers regarding technical queries.
  • Provide technical and service requirements for Sales drawings and marketing/commercial documents.
  • Control of formulation and updating of Bills of Materials.
  • Administer serial number database.
  • Control of technical manual formulation including updating.
  • Formulation of spare parts lists.
  • Administer technical library (online and hard copy).
  • Checking customer URS/Specifications for technical requirements/specifications prior to quotation or contract signature.
  • Administer parts database (Operations).
    • Essential Requirements:
  • Significant experience of in the use of Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D Software like SolidWorks
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Designing of special purpose machinery / packaging machinery and systems or similar special purpose machinery.
  • Be able to work on their own or as part of a team and be able to meet deadlines
    • The following would be advantageous, but not essential:
  • Steam systems and energy calculations
  • Fluid systems, pumps and pipe work
  • Pneumatics
  • Stress calculations
  • Sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications
  • Sheet metal development
  • Tolerance of machined parts
    • Salary Guide:£40,000 - £50,000 pa - Overtime is sometimes availableHours:40-hour week, Mon - Fri: 08.30 - 17.00Location:Based in the Huntingdon - St. Neots area (Cambridgeshire / Bedfordshire).Applicants for the Technical Design Engineer role will need to have their own transport due the companys rural location.Please bear in mind that you may not hear from us straight away.
