Location: Huntingdon (PE29)Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term initiallyHours: 9am until 5:30pm (Monday to Friday) Salary: circa £39,000Job Reference: 34911Polytec are looking for a Chemist specialising in battery materials for our Huntingdon based client. You will play a key role in developing next generation energy storage materials, maximising their performance and gaining an understanding of the structure.This is a temporary role offered on a two-year fixed term contract in the first instance. Responsibilities:* Contribute to brainstorming, studies, and project meeting discussions* Design of novel materials and recommendations to solve chemical synthetic issues* Synthesis and chemical analysis of organic chemistry targets* Formulation of electrode and electrolyte material inks and pastes, including solvent screening and microscopy studies of the morphology of dried material deposits* Timely and accurate compilation of results Requirements:* PhD in chemistry or a degree in chemistry coupled with equivalent work experience* A good understanding plus practical experience in synthetic organic chemistry* IT literate, familiarity with Microsoft Office and chemical drawing packagesThe following would be an advantage:* Relevant work experience in a high-tech R&D or manufacturing environment* Inorganic chemistry, polymer physics, and relevant analytical techniques* A good understanding of structure - property relationships in functional materials* Experience with battery technologies or electrochemical techniquesPlease contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below!
