My client a large educational organisation has an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager, the role is looking to pay £47000 plus excellent benefits and can be based either near Glasgow, Abington or Nottingham and will ideally require2 days a week in one of those offices.This role would very much suit a person who is looking for their next step up and will need someone who has corporate health and safety experience.An exciting opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their professional career .You will drive key activities and H&S performance metrics, establishing strong working relationships with the employees and business leaders. You will reportto the Head of Real Estate and Workplace and will be part of the wider People and Culture Team.• Develop the Global H&S strategy, identifying opportunities and ideas for continuous improvement.• Manage the Global (H&S) Policy and related standards, to cover not only RM-occupied properties and buildings but also field based employees and employees travelling away from their normal workplace.• Implement an ISO 45001 management system ready for UK and International offices with a view to achieve ISO certification.• Oversee H&S training and assessment programmes, which may at times include in person training and assessments of staff and contractors across the organisation ensuring services have a qualified person carrying out tasks.• Act as a trusted adviser, providing advice and guidance to the organisation’s leadership team and key stakeholders on all relevant H&S matters.• Identify H&S related gaps and applicable areas of improvement and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to embed best practice.• Lead H&S management group meetings and H&S representative teams• Manage the accident reduction, near miss, and behavioural safety programs. Record, monitor and as appropriate investigate accidents and incidents, as well as actual and potential nonconformities and other relevant H&S issues. Conducting root cause analysiswhere required and ensuring any remedial actions are completed effectively and efficiently.• Liaise with external authorities as necessary – local authority, HSE, Landlords etc. and take responsibility for any RIDDOR reports should they arise.• Promote a positive health and safety culture.• Complete internal audits and ensure existing H&S documents and systems are fit for purpose.• Create H&S reports for the executive leadership team.You will have experience working in a Health and Safety environment, gaining a strong knowledge of safety management whilst creating and leading change.We want to find a committed, ambitious individual, with a keen eye for detail. You’ll be personable, able to build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.You’ll need:• Hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in occupational health and safety, with demonstrable experience in a relevant H&S role.• Ability to lead confidently on a wide range of health & safety advice.• Member of IOSH and working towards CMIOSH.• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of health and safety risk management in offices and distribution centres.• Demonstrable experience of working to ISO 45001.• Have a handson and pro-active approach to health and safety.If you have the necessary skill set please apply online today!
