Job Description

JRS are recruiting for a Production/Process Engineer to come and join their successful manufacturing client in Hook.The successful candidate will be responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, with a focus on leading all aspects of manufacturing to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Working closely with theengineering department to strive for manufacturing best practice and design for manufactureDuties to include (but not limited to):

    • Generate and maintain standard operating procedures for the Production department to standardise work methods, create effective workflows and minimise space requirements
    • Conduct time and motion studies using value stream mapping to improve processes and gain efficiencies
    • Ability to design jigs and fixtures to improve efficiencies within the assembly area, using CAD
    • Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives, problem solving and team-wide process improvement activities across operations to support the business strategic objectives with a focus on waste reduction and quality improvement
    • Introduce and promote error proofing methodology where possible
    • Ensure all product and BOM requirements are taken into account from the initial product conception to the finished result - introduce a "designed for manufacturing" mind-set
    • Undertake special projects as required
.Required Skills
  • Minimum HNC / HND or equivalent in a mechanical, engineering or manufacturing discipline
  • Autonomously plans and prioritises activities
  • Experience of improving manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrates good understanding of engineering, scientific and other technical information
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach
  • Has experience and has worked within a lean manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • A willingness to keep up with current and developing engineering trends and to champion them
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Uses Ergonomics and Health and Safety best practices
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Experience in training operators
  • Analytical skills
  • PC skills
  • Exercises latitude and technical judgement in deciding work methods
  • Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
