Job title: Financial ControlTester 12-month Fixed term contractReporting to: Systems Assurance ManagerBase location: Currently work from home, Hook based 2-3 days weekly on safe return to officesSalary: £60,000 - £65,000 + benefitsAs a global FTSE 250 company with over 500 contracts across 20 countries we rely on the support of our Finance Assurance Team to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.Due to expected legislation, Serco has embarked on a financial control framework programme to implement processes and procedures for assessing the performance of financial controls and implementing an application to facilitate this.The Financial Control Tester role within Serco UK Group Finance will work with the Financial Controls Manager to support the Group Finance Assurance Team and Global Process Owners initially perform process walkthroughs and control design effectiveness testingagainst detailed risk and control matrices for key financial processes.Once completed the role will take responsibility to assist colleagues in undertaking a programme of testing to assess the effectiveness of the operation of those controls and ensuring they meet Serco Group Standards for internal controls for financial reporting(ICFR) which is similar to that required for Sarbanes Oxley control assessments. This will require clear understanding of these standards and need to interpret, explain, and apply them to the financial processes.In return we can offer a supportive and collaborative environment that respects work/life balance and a great opportunity to drive significant improvements for Serco while developing your knowledge of the operations of this large diverse business.What youll need to do the roleThis role requires someone who is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA CIMA, CMIIA or equivalent) or qualified by experience. Candidates will need at least 3 years experience in an auditing or financial controls environment to be a successful applicant. Itis essential for this role that you have a good understanding of finance processes, risks, and controls. You must have up to date knowledge of IFRS accounting standards. Experience of documenting business and operational processes and controls is also essential,along with experience of design and operational effectiveness testing of financial controls.
