Children’s Nurse’s can be employed within three Directorates of the Trust – Children’s Services at the Great North Children’s Hospital, Women’s Services at the RVI and Cardiothoracic’s at Freeman Road Hospital.The Great North Children’s HospitalThe Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH) is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK, and offers one of the widest ranges of children’s healthcare in the country. Our many specialists have the experience and knowledge to deal with a full range of childhood illnesses and injuries.There are vacancies within GNCH on several units including Ward 3 BMT, Ward 4 oncology, ward 9 surgical, ward 10 trauma and orthopaedics and PICU. Freeman HospitalThe Freeman Hospital is the centre for children’s cardiac services, providing Supra-regional cardiac and thoracic surgical services for the UK and Ireland. This service has a world renowned record in cardiac transplant, ECMO and assist devices. Specialist care is provided to children undergoing complex, routine and emergency cardiothoracic surgery. Cardiac Services is a speciality with many opportunities to gain and develop new skills and experience. Facilities at Freeman Hospital include a PICU and an 18 bedded ward incorporating a 6 bedded HDU.There are vacancies within Cardio PICU. If you are interested in this area please contact Sister Katie Marshall to arrange an informal visit.NeonatesThe Neonatal Department at Newcastle is at the forefront for development of neonatal services. We are the Regional centre of excellence for neonatal care and offer a variety of opportunities to gain skills in caring for babies who are born premature with respiratory problems, babies that require complex surgery or require cardiac or anatomical review. There are vacancies in the Neonatal Department. There are vacancies within Neonates.
