Job Description

ADVANCED SURGICAL TRAINING FELLOWSHIP IN FOOT AND ANKLE SURGERYREF. 317-TD-20-289We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well-integrated team.This post is suitable for trainees in Orthopaedics with an interest in Specialist Training in Foot and Ankle Surgery. The candidates should have completed a specialist training program in Orthopaedics (Near or Post CCT) and passed FRCS (T&O) or international equivalent.The post is to start in February 2021 for 12 months.The Musculoskeletal Services Directorate comprises elective and trauma Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Metabolic Bone Disease. There are close links with the Musculoskeletal Research Group at Newcastle University and with Paediatric Rheumatology. Elective orthopaedic surgery and Foot and Ankle surgery is based at the Freeman Hospital while the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit and the Spinal Service are sited at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI). Elective Foot and Ankle outpatient clinics are held in the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Department and inpatient beds are all based at Freeman Hospital.The Musculoskeletal Research Group (MRG) at Newcastle University and the Musculoskeletal Education Research Group (MERG) are multidisciplinary, comprising clinical and laboratory science rheumatology, orthopaedic surgery, paediatric rheumatology, metabolic bone disease and social scientists and a nurse practitioner with shared junior doctor support.The Surgeons are divided into the following units Arthroplasty, Spinal Surgery, Musculoskeletal Oncology, Hand and Upper Limb, Foot & Ankle, Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery.The orthopaedic Foot and Ankle teamComprises four specialist Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a fellow, 2 trainees, 2 junior doctors, 2 nurse practitioners, 2 specialist physiotherapists and a specialist in Biomechanics.
