Job Description

This role is responsible for the co-ordination of innovation projects generated from both within the business and with our key global branded customers. This role will also be responsible for technical line trials on new primary and secondary packaging materials,ensuring that all materials / product development is compatible with manufacturing processes and machinery.You will have a background in technical packaging development and project leadership experience with a track record of delivering results, with a strong focus on sustainability, packaging waste directives and the environment.You will have a background in technical packaging development and project leadership experience with a track record of delivering results, with a strong focus on sustainability, packaging waste directives and the environment.This is a field role so there is an expectation of occasional working away from home and some overseas travel.Key role responsibilities

  • Supporting New Product Development (NPD) through sourcing and developing of packaging materials.
  • Direct projects from initial inception, through the trial stage to on site approval in line with customer expectations and finally to successful launch stage.
  • To conduct and report back on Primary and Secondary materials trials and testing ensuring that these are approved and specified.
  • Identifying and resolving any issues within the packaging environment.
  • Assist quality department in ensuring documentation is catalogues.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to identify new business opportunities.
  • Support operations and quality to help resolve any commercial issue impacting customer account performance.
  • Provide functional support, technical support to customers.
  • Completion of customer assurance documentation, including specifications, risk assessments, SAQs and supplier documents.
  • Set up approval for external specifications and relevant technical information in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Maintaining and developing the database as well as using the information to complete customer information requests.
  • Assisting with preparations to achieve compliance for BRC audits.
Background and experience
  • Experience of working within packaging and in particular food packaging industry.
  • Ability to write product specifications and customer quality reports.
  • Strong knowledge of food industry regulations and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Sustainability and Innovations on packaging material.
  • Preferable knowledge of Aseptic Filling Machines for Liquid Paper Board (Mainly Tetrapak, SIG and Elopak filling machines).
  • Have accomplished IT Skills using Microsoft suite of programs (including MS Project) are essential.
  • Experience in key account management.
  • Experience with Government SUP Legislation.
  • Experience in beneficial cost saving projects.
  • Experience in continuous improvement projects and Risk Mitigation.
Skills required
  • You will need well-developed interpersonal skills, specifically relationship building, facilitation, written / verbal communication.
  • Have accomplished IT Skills using Microsoft suite of programs (including MS Project) are essential.
  • Excellent customer knowledge and service.
  • Dynamic, quick thinking, team player, responsible and hard-working and disciplined
  • Proactive, adaptable and strong problem-solving skills.
