Job Description

Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Class 1 or 2 Drivers for a well-established niche sector Freight company based in the Heathrow area.Driver / Fine Art HandlerThe companies are UKs leading providers of specialist packing and international shipping to the fine art, antiques and interior design industry, with offices near Heathrow.We are looking to recruit experienced Drivers.Responsibilities will include: -

  • Picking up and delivering a variety of artworks including paintings, sculptures and high value furniture of all descriptions
  • Driving a truck, locally and long distance between cities and throughout Europe
  • Proper handling and packing of various types of fine art, antiques and furniture and securing in truck for safe transport
  • Installation/De-Installation of various fine art and furniture
  • Inspecting artworks to determine how, where, when, or if to touch them and how to pack for transport
  • Understand how to properly wrap, load, span, tie in artworks within a truck to keep them safe and stable during transport
  • Installing artworks professionally in settings ranging from corporate to residential properties
  • Interacting with art professionals and collectors
  • Efficiently handling paperwork including bills of lading, labelling, timesheets and detailed condition reports with photos
  • Communicating with operations team throughout the day
The right candidate will have the following:
  • Thorough understanding and a minimum of 2 years experience with industry standards for handling, packing, transporting and installing high end furniture, art and antiques
  • Ability to efficiently wrap/pack sensitive and valuable furniture, works of art and antiques
  • Ability to work comfortably on a truck as well as client site
  • Be physically fit and have the ability to work comfortably on ladders, scaffolding or mechanized lifts
  • Professional appearance and demeanour
  • Willingness to work around Europe
  • Willingness to spend nights away for longer trips
  • Familiar with basic art terminology
Qualifications:
  • Class 2 or 1 HGV licence
  • Up to date CPC qualification
  • Clean driving record
  • Digital tachograph card
  • Valid passport
