Job Description

Senior DraughtspersonHeanor£30k to £33k + Excellent Overtime and great benefits packageThe CompanyAs a world leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the Aerospace, Energy, Marine and Nuclear Sectors, my client has a history and pedigree that spans more than a century.Due to a period of significant growth, they are now looking to build their already impressive design team with the addition of a Senior Draughtsperson, to take the company into the next phase in their development and to ensure that they are able to continueto service their customers future engineering needs.The RoleBased at their impressive Heanor facility youll be draughting a range of bespoke products based on project needs and the solving of clients technical requirements for each project. This includes:

  • The draughting of mechanical designs based on a specific set of project criteria (2D & 3D)
  • Approval and checking of internal (including you own) and external drawings.
  • Working collaboratively with other aspects of the business to ensure the best and most cost-effective methods of manufacture
  • Working in line with company procedures and BS standards
  • Working with the Projects Team to clarify the scope of work and to support project programmes
  • Involvement in project team meetings and feeding this through the design function of the business, as well as carrying out site visits
  • Utilising measuring equipment to accurately record survey data
  • Utilising a range of design and IT software (SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD package, and the usual Microsoft suite of programs)
  • Mentoring Junior Engineers in best practice, and the development of the same
The PersonYoull obviously need certain things in your locker to be considered, which includes:
  • Relevant qualifications linked to your Craft. Preferably a degree, but an HNC + relevant experience is also acceptable
  • Relevant draughting experience with supervisory exposure
  • Solid real-world experience within design/draughting (structural steelwork/ sheet metal / large enclosures / welded fabrications etc.)
  • Advanced abilities within a recognised 3D CAD package (ideally SolidWorks but other, similar packages will be considered)
  • Proven ability to convey technical information to a wide audience
  • Experience of Design for Manufacture and methods of manufacture
  • Good time management and ability to achieve project milestones
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a diverse workforce to solve day-to-day issues
  • A flexible and willing outlook, along with an approachable personality
  • A full UK driving licence
As this is a permanent, full-time role, we require candidates to be within a reasonable commute of Heanor and who wont have to relocate. Those that dont meet this criteria will not be progressed.The RewardsIn addition to working with an established and respected company, with an impressive heritage and customer base, youll be rewarded with:
  • £30k to £33k dependant on experience (based on a 39-hour week)
  • Overtime payments
