Job Description

Deputy Care Manager with strong communication skills and previous experience providing effective supervision, leadership and management of staff is required for a well-established mental health charity based in Heanor, Derbyshire, East Midlands.SALARY: £30,265 to £35,734 per annum + BenefitsLOCATION: Heanor, Derbyshire, East MidlandsJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week on a rota basisJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Deputy Care Manager with strong communication skills and previous experience providing effective supervision, leadership and management of staff.Working as a Deputy Care Manager you will support and provide effective line management to staff to help them understand their role and develop their competence to deliver an effective service.As a Deputy Care Manager you will ensure appropriate communication and notification, as required, to external partners, Commissioners and practitioners and ensure effective incident, SUI and complaint recording on Sphera in line with relevant policies andprocedures.As a successful candidate you will manage a 16-bed single-level building for male and female clients. It provides a welcoming, clean and comfortable environment with facilities that support recovery and increasing independence. Residents have own bedroomwith en-suite wet room. There are communal kitchens, bathrooms with baths & various living and dining areas. There is a home kitchen and laundry, but people are supported to use the independent facilities as much as they are able. Every room has a nurse callbutton and there are call points throughout the home.DUTIESYour duties as a Deputy Care Manager will include:

  • Provide direction and guidance to the MHRW team regarding support planning, risk assessments and service user outcomes
  • Ensure the oversight and review support planning and activity programmes for individual residents
  • Ensure safe systems of work, such as personal safety and lone working and compliance with all company policies and systems
  • Monitor the quality of information recorded and to support staff in support planning, dealing with any issues that affect quality of information
  • Promote a culture of person-centred practice

  • Achieved, working towards or willing to undertake NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care or the equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current legal responsibilities and standards for CQC registered services, including the need for the management and delivery of person-centred services
  • Experience of providing effective supervision, leadership and management of staff
  • Must have experience of directly working with people with a severe mental illness
  • Must have experience of working within statutory agencies
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Competent Safeguarding skills and knowledge
  • Good understanding of Confidentiality and Information Governance
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities with the ability to effectively manage performance and conduct of others
