Job Description

My client is a forward thinking, pragmatic Legal firm in Mid Sussex, their clients range from local clients but also throughout the UK and around the world. Other than relevant experience, we would like the successful candidate to have the right character and mindset who doesnt mind rolling their sleeves up and getting on with thetask at hand. Someone who enjoys taking responsibility, can use their common sense and has a firm grasp of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.This Senior Legal Cashier role is a new role for the business and one they are very excited about.The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Receiving, checking, and paying Invoices as well as allocating payments for new and existing clients
  • Bank reconciliation.
  • Supporting with the Sales and purchase ledger.
  • Handling CHAPS transfers, processing client payments, producing and checking completion statements and billing.
  • Paying supplier invoices.
  • Managing VAT returns.
  • Month end reporting.
  • Monthly payroll processing.
  • Liaising with and supporting the consultant solicitors and the retained team.
  • Dealing with client queries.
  • Managing outstanding debts.
  • Following the file closing process to ensure client files are dealt with correctly.
The client operates their financing in Xero so knowledge of this system would be beneficial but can be taught. The ability to work well independently and use your own initiative, but also part of a team would be essential.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a great eye for detail is always required in this role as it will be busy with some demanding clients.
